🤖 AI Data Centers need Half the Total Electricity demand of the US
Hey! 👋 Happy Monday, Monday is always a tough day, right? Going back to work after a leave is a little bit hard. Did you know that scientists have identified a material forming inside our body when doing MRI scans? They say in rare cases it may lead to death. So the thing is before doing an MRI, lab technicians inject contrast dyes into our body so that when reacting to the magnetic field, it helps doctors see the internal organs clearly. When gadolinium, a substance in contrast dye and oxalic acid gets mixed and reacts with a magnetic field it causes itchiness, swelling, headache, pain, nausea, and many more. Read More.

Thanks to AI, Data Centers need Half the Total Electricity Demand in the US
International Energy Agency’s new report said that because of AI, data centers will need half the total electricity demand in the US between now and 2030. Data centers are using more electricity than the production of aluminum, steel, cement, chemicals, and all other energy-intensive goods combined. Elon Musk’s xAI has announced plans to expand its Colossus supercomputer in Memphis, Tennessee to at least a million GPUs.
Meanwhile, OpenAI, Oracle, and Softbank announced a joint venture known as Stargate that plans to invest $500 billion over the next four years to develop AI data centers and generate electricity for AI across the US. However, Microsoft has announced it won’t be building the data center in Ohio as said before. Data centers will use 945 terawatt-hours (TWh) annually in 2030 (more than the whole of Japan) which was around 415 TWh in 2024. Read More.

The hedge fund billionaire said he’s more concerned about trade disruptions and emerging world powers bringing down the economic structure and geopolitical structure that has been in place since the end of World War II. Read More.

Chip Bans have boosted AI growth and Deepseek in China
You may have heard about a Chinese AI chatbot called Deepseek. “The success of Deepseek is also pushing more startups to work on building applications and services, and not waste time and resources building models,” Kevin Xu, founder of Interconnected Capital, a hedge fund investing in AI said.
Investors are focussing more on AI applications rather than building more AI models. Also, billions of dollars are being drawn in state funding for China’s AI industry as well. Investors believe in building high-tech applications for AI and making it open-source. They also say “The real winners will be those who combine AI with the domain expertise to deliver solutions that big tech can’t easily replicate - like companies that help produce more accurate medical diagnostics or faster business workflows“.
